Letter writing

The other day I just sat down to pen my thoughts for a special friend on paper. It was her birthday and I thought I should write a letter to her to make her feel different. I was all excited about this prospect as it had been ages since I last wrote to anyone. Our contemporary lives have got so used to electronic media that I feel the beauty of writing letters is long lost.

So, I pulled out my writing pad and started scribbling. I was in distinct discomfort arranging my thoughts into meaningful sentences. It took me at least ten iterations before I could come up with half a page worth of satisfaction. I am glad I eventually posted it to her but it just made me wonder whether we lost the charm of doing relatively simple mundane tasks such as writing letters.
